You don’t have to wait for a birthday with a big number to celebrate your little one—this playful milestone studio session for a sweet three-year-old reminded me just how special age three really is. It’s this in-between season, where toddler-ness is fading and suddenly you catch glimpses of the big kid they’re becoming. That shift deserves to be remembered.
A Studio Space That Sparks Joy
I no longer have a studio space home, but through our lovely small business community, I’ve connected with Hannah at Bubbles Party Co. and now occasionally use their bright, playful event space for milestone sessions like this one. With its clean white walls and white floors, it creates the perfect simple backdrop to focus on them—their playfulness, personality, and those little expressions that you never want to forget.
This little one brought so much joy and energy into the space. We started in a pink dress that belonged to her mom, which made for such a sweet generational moment. Then we changed into a brown and blue dress that was made for her—so much personality and cuteness! And being in a balloon shop? Yes, we played with balloons. Yes, there were giggles. Yes, it was the best.
The Magic of Milestone Sessions at Three
Three-year-olds might not always seem like the obvious age for a milestone session, but I’ll tell you—these are some of my favorites. They have BIG imaginations, they’re silly and curious, and they can follow along and interact in the most genuine, endearing ways. It’s not about posing them perfectly. It’s about letting them be three, and capturing that exactly as it is.
