Playful Family Photography Session
There’s something so special about watching a family grow. I first met the Blackburns during their newborn session last year, so it was such a joy to see them again—this time for their playful family photography session celebrating their little one turning one!
We met up for their one-year milestone session, and it was full of laughter, energy, and those beautifully real family moments that I love so much. Big sister brought plenty of spunk and personality to the shoot, which honestly made it even better. Instead of trying to reign it in, we leaned right into it—because the truth is, kids between the ages of 3–5 are just not going to sit still and smile perfectly on cue (and that’s okay!). It actually makes for those real, authentic, frozen-in-time moments, that I love to capture.
If you’re a parent in that season and wanting family photos, my biggest advice is to throw those picture-perfect expectations out the window. Let your little ones play, explore, and be silly. Those natural giggles, goofy grins, and fleeting moments of connection are what make your photos truly yours.
The Blackburns embraced all of that—and the result was a gallery full of life, love, and joy. I couldn’t have asked for a sweeter way to celebrate their first year as a family of four!
