One of my favorite parts of this job is getting to photograph families through multiple seasons of life. This Dothan family newborn session felt especially meaningful because I had photographed her sister’s wedding awhile ago, and getting to walk into their beautiful historic home and document this season for their own family felt really special.
Going into the session, she knew she wanted a mix of classic family portraits along with images that leaned more into motherhood and those softer, in between moments. We made space for both. We captured those timeless family photos everyone wants hanging on their walls, but some of my favorite images from the day ended up being the black and white photos that feel a little more quiet and lived in.

I always love the little details that make a season of life feel like your season of life. Harris is currently in a phase where he absolutely loves his red cowboy boots, and his mom knew she wanted to remember that. Years from now I know those photos are going to bring back all the memories of this sweet and silly stage.
Another favorite part of the session was recreating photos she had taken with her own mom on the front porch when she was little. Now getting to stand in that same place with her own children felt really meaningful. I think moments like that are such a reminder of why photographs matter. You forget the tiny details over time, but photos let you hold onto them and carry them forward.
We also made sure to document one of Harris and his dad’s favorite little traditions. They love standing outside and waving at cars together, so of course we had to capture that too.
And little baby Sellers was the most precious.
These are always the sessions I leave feeling grateful for — a beautiful home, meaningful traditions, classic portraits, and all the little in between moments that tell the real story too.
