Auburn first birthday photo session
Watching families grow is one of my favorite parts of this job, and this Auburn first birthday photo session was especially sweet. This little guy is the second baby in the family whose entire first year I’ve had the joy of photographing, and getting to document another season with them felt really special.
This session felt a little bittersweet for me because I’ve been photographing their family for so long—from their wedding to pregnancy announcements to newborn days. Seeing them settle into their beautiful new home and celebrating this milestone together felt really special.
It was a chilly day outside, so we kept things cozy indoors and just focused on real life. The kids played, we wandered through their new space, and I got to capture all those little in-between moments that make this season so sweet.
We ended the session with a cake smash at home, which was such a fun way to celebrate turning one. I have a vintage white high chair that I can bring to first birthday sessions if families want to use it, but this mom had a special high chair that’s been used by several members of her family. It made the moment feel even more meaningful.
Sessions like this are always my favorite. Simple, relaxed, and focused on the moments you’ll want to remember years from now.
