Auburn Alabama Milestone Photography
One of my favorite things is getting to photograph families year after year, and this Auburn Alabama Milestone Photography session was such a fun one. I’ve photographed this family through several milestones already, so it was a joy to spend the morning celebrating this sweet girl turning four.
Her mom told me she “just wanted photos of her being four,” and I loved that. Instead of planning a perfectly styled session, we spent the morning exploring around the gardens of the museum together. We wandered, played, and let her curiosity lead the way, stopping for portraits along the way but mostly just documenting this stage exactly as it is.
As we explored, I found myself thinking about my own girls at this age and all the little things I wish I could bottle up forever. Her grandma had painted her tiny fingernails, she was full of wonder as she explored each new space, and her personality came through so naturally. Those are the kinds of details I love capturing because they’re often the things families will smile about years from now.
Parents often ask how long they should continue milestone sessions after the baby years. I usually recommend sessions every six months until around age two because children change so quickly during those early years. After that, I love switching to yearly milestone sessions. Every year brings a new personality, new interests, and a new stage that’s worth remembering.
These sessions don’t have to be elaborate. Sometimes they simply look like spending a morning together, exploring somewhere fun, playing, and letting your child be themselves. Those ordinary moments have a way of becoming some of the most meaningful memories, and I love helping families preserve them.
