Auburn Alabama in-home newborn photography

Inviting me into your home during those early newborn days is always such an honor, and this Auburn Alabama in-home newborn photography session with baby Lucy was one I won’t forget.
I first met this sweet couple at their maternity session at the Botanic (see this beautiful session), so getting to see them again—this time as a family of three—felt really full circle. They’ve settled into this new season so naturally, and baby Lucy (also known as “Goose,” which I’m obsessed with) couldn’t be more loved.
Their nursery was ridiculously adorable in the most meaningful way. Not just styled beautifully, but filled with pieces that told their story and reflected what matters most to them. Those are always my favorite kinds of spaces to photograph.

There were so many thoughtful details layered throughout the room. Lucy’s mom had cross-stitched the sweetest alphabet blanket, and she also crocheted all of the Winnie the Pooh characters, which were tucked into little corners of the nursery. Her great-grandmother was a florist named Violet—Lucy’s middle name—and they had a framed page of her handwriting about gardening, along with subtle little violets worked into the wallpaper. It was all so intentional and full of meaning.

One of my favorite touches was the bookshelf. Early in her pregnancy, they traveled through Europe and picked up a children’s book from each place they visited. Now those books sit in Lucy’s room, already telling the beginning of her story. It’s those kinds of things that make a space feel like home, and not just a backdrop.

I know sometimes people feel hesitant about in-home sessions—they worry their house isn’t “photo ready” or that everything needs to be perfect before I arrive. But truly, I have never walked into a home and thought it wasn’t a good place for photos. What makes these sessions so special is that they reflect you. The love, the care, the personality you’ve poured into your space for your baby—it all shows, and that’s what makes the images meaningful.

And honestly, everyone is just more comfortable at home. You don’t have to pack a bag or rush out the door. You can settle into your own rhythm, and I get to document what your life really looks like in this season.

Baby Lucy is already so deeply loved, and it was such a joy to get to capture the beginning of her story in a place that already holds so much meaning for her family.
If you’ve been considering an in-home newborn session, I would love to come to you and document this sweet, fleeting season just as it is.
