Birmingham Announcement Photo Session

This Birmingham announcement photo session was such a joy to capture — not just because Jack and Emily are in the sweetest season, but also because of the story behind it. A couple of years ago, Emily reached out about doing an engagement session at the beach. It didn’t end up working out at the time, but we stayed in touch… and I’m so glad we did! What a full-circle moment to photograph their pregnancy announcement now.
Why the Birmingham Botanical Gardens Was the Perfect Fit
We planned their session at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, which has quickly become one of my favorite locations to shoot. It’s full of soft light, quiet corners, and dreamy garden paths that make every session feel peaceful and magical. For this one especially, the gardens added the perfect ethereal feel Emily was hoping for.
A Storytelling Approach to a Garden Baby Announcement
From the beginning, she shared that she wanted something sweet and gentle to reflect the joy and newness of this season — and I was so excited to bring some creative ideas to the table. We started with some natural portraits around the gardens and added a few unique elements: a flat lay with baby items, and a placed bassinet that they walked alongside for some of the most tender, storytelling moments. It felt like a quiet peek into the future, and I loved how different it was from the traditional pregnancy announcement style.

Capturing Joy and New Life
This garden baby announcement session was full of warmth, connection, and intention — and Jack and Emily were just the kindest, most joy-filled couple to photograph. I’m so honored to have been a part of this chapter for them. Sessions like this remind me why I love what I do: telling stories that matter, creating with purpose, and capturing joy in the most beautiful, honest way.
